Over his 17 years of practice, Robert (Bob) Briggs successfully defended his insurance and corporate clients against litigation and workers compensation defense claims.
Bob's practice also involves defending cases involving automobile and trucking accidents, premises liability, products liability, construction litigation, school district and other governmental entities under the Mississippi Tort Claims Act, and employment discrimination. With deep courtroom experience, Bob has tried or argued cases before juries, Administrative Law Judges, Mississippi Court of Appeals, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2009, Bob was appointed by the Mississippi Supreme Court to serve as a temporary chancellor for Jackson, George and Greene Counties pending a permanent replacement for Judge Pierce being named by the governor. During that time, Bob handled the complete chancery court docket of Judge Randy Pierce for Jackson, George and Greene Counties. He conducted hearings for contempt, modification of custody and child support, adoption and other motions. Bob also presided as judge over approximately ten trials for divorce, child custody disputes, land issues and estate matters.
Bob is an active community servant serving as a past Board Member & President of Ocean Springs Youth Baseball Organization and the City of Oceans Springs Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. During his time with the organizations, Bob led the youth baseball league for Ocean Springs, growing participation from 250 kids just after Hurricane Katrina to over 500 kids in the 2016 season and oversaw the design and completion of a $8 million sports complex.
