Prison Medical Care - Cole v. Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office,

In 2006, Mr. Glas served as counsel for the Sheriff in the personal injury action entitled Cole v. Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, No. 76015, Judge Marilyn Castle, 15th JDC, Parish of Acadia, LA. During the judge trial, Mr. Glas successfully defended the Sheriff against claim the prison failed to provide reasonable medical care to an inmate who developed a rare infection that resulted in a coma and amputation. The trial court rendered judgement in favor of defendants, finding breach without causation. On appeal, the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal affirmed, finding the Detention Center provided reasonable care without breach in Cole v. Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department, 01-1386 (La.App. 3 Cir. 11/5/08), 998 So. 2d 212, writ denied, 2008-2875 (La. 2/6/09), 999 So. 2d 784.
