Liz Houts is an attorney in Deutsch Kerrigan's New Orleans office, where she represents insurers and businesses in matters involving insurance coverage, insurance defense, and bad faith litigation. She works closely with clients throughout all stages of litigation, providing practical counsel and developing strategic solutions to efficiently resolve complex disputes.
Liz has experience defending a wide range of civil litigation matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, personal injury, and hurricane-related claims. Her litigation background includes drafting dispositive motions, conducting legal research, managing discovery, and assisting with depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the litigation process.
In addition to her litigation experience, Liz managed third-party contracts for the California high-speed rail project, where she negotiated and drafted complex agreements with utility providers, municipalities, state and federal agencies, and railroads. That experience strengthened her skills in negotiation, problem-solving, and navigating multifaceted legal and business issues involving numerous stakeholders.
Before entering the legal profession, Liz spent nearly a decade in the real estate industry, working in marketing, sales, and property management. Her diverse professional background enables her to understand her clients' business objectives and provide thoughtful, practical guidance tailored to their needs.
