Raymond C. Lewis represents clients in complex litigation and appeals. His practice focuses primarily on complex commercial and business litigation, products liability defense, insurance defense, and appellate work. He has successfully litigated complex commercial disputes for local and national clients, involving multi-million-dollar breach of contract claims, product liability claims, oil and gas disputes, and transportation casualty disputes. In his appellate practice, Ray has handled numerous appeals before the Louisiana Supreme Court, Louisiana Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, with many cases resulting in published decisions favorable to his clients.
Ray is also a member of the firm’s rescue counsel team. In this capacity, he works with the team’s other members to take cases to trial on an emergency basis when other law firms are unprepared to do so.
Ray has been named by CityBusiness as a member of its "Ones to Watch: Law” on multiple occasions and has been voted to the Louisiana Super Lawyers List since 2014. He has written and lectured on trial and appellate practice and environmental law topics and is a frequent speaker for the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, the New Orleans Bar Association, and The Network of Trial Lawyers.
Though born in Louisiana, Ray grew up in Dallas, Texas. He returned to Louisiana to attend the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review. After leaving law school, he served as law clerk to the Judges of the 23rd Judicial District Court.
While at LSU, he met his wife Jenny, a native of New Orleans. They have two young daughters who keep them very busy but also very happy. In his free time, Ray enjoys playing basketball, coaching his daughters’ sports teams, and spending time with his family.
